Green Beans Poriyal (Palya)

Ingredients

·       Green Beans                   - ½ kg
·       Toor dhal                         - handful ( ¼ Cup)
·       Turmeric powder             - ¼ teaspoon
·       Onion                               - 1
·       Garlic pods                      - 4
·       Freshly grated coconut   - ¼ cup

For seasoning

·       Oil                                - 2 table spoon
·       Mustard seeds            - ½ teaspoon
·       Channa dhal                - 1 teaspoon 
·       Urad dhal                     - 1 teaspoon
·       Asafoetida                   -  ¼ teaspoon
·       Dry red chillies            - 5
·       Curry Leaves               - few

Method

·       Clean and Cut Green beans & onions into small pieces
·       Crush the garlic.
·       Cook the toor dhal with turmeric powder till half boil.
·       Add green beans let it cook till the beans get soft and strain excess water - keep aside (Strained water can be use for rasam)
·       Heat the kadai with oil add all the above seasonings one by one then add crushed garlic & onions fry for a minute.
·       add cooked toor dhal & green beans let it cook for another 2 minutes.
·       Finally add freshly grated coconut & mix it well. Switch off the stove.
·       This side dish goes well with Sambar Rice & Chapathi.
