Kara Pongal
Ingredients
· Rice - 2 cups
· Yellow moong dhal - ¼ cup
· Asafoetida - ¼ teaspoon
· Salt to taste.
For seasoning
· Ghee - 4 table spoon
· Oil - 2 table spoon
· Pepper corns - 1 tea spoon
· Cumin seeds - 1 tea spoon
· Ginger - 1inch piece
· Green chilly - 1
· Cashews - 2 table spoon
· Curry leaves - few
Method
· Add water & asafoetida in moong dhal and cook it till the moong dhal get soft add salt in it and keep aside.
· Add 5 cups of water in rice pressure cook it for 3 whistle.
· Heat the kadai with oil & ghee add pepper corn, cumin seeds, cashews, ginger, green chilly and curry leaves - fry for a minute. Let the pepper corns splutter.
· Add cooked moong dhal let it boil, add cooked rice mix it well with one table spoon of ghee on top of the pongal mix it & switch off the stove. Transfer to the serving bowl
· Now the tasty kara pongal is ready to serve.
